THE PROCESS

CUSTOM FURNITURE DESIGN

The heart of the work by Boykin Pearce Associates is based on collaboration with the customer to produce a truly custom piece of furniture that addresses the client's personal needs and desires for both design and function. It is an exciting and rewarding process of discovery for all involved. While the furniture shown in our Gallery section is of course available as is, many customers choose to commission new designs that more fully address the artistic and functional requirements for their home or office.

Here's How It Works:
Step 1: Communication
Communication is fundamental to this collaboration. The process begins with conversations that help us to begin to understand the client, the space, the design direction and function for the desired furniture. The developmental process is an exciting journey of discovery as possibilities are explored and considered. The customer's interior designer, architect or craftsmen in other medium can be involved to assure that all concerns are met to the benefit of the client.

Step 2: The Initial Concept
The process of designing the furniture in fact began during the conversations with the client. These concepts are now developed further and sketched in CAD for customer approval and initial pricing. With a drawing and price in hand, the customer can suggest any changes necessary and then make an informed decision on proceeding.

Step 3: Creating the Furniture
At this point, with the customer's approval, final CAD drawings and price are developed. The project is scheduled in our shop and a target delivery date is established. Delivery is coordinated and on site set up, when necessary, is handled with care by BPA.
